MIAMI GARDENS – Residents in the Vista Verde community will soon see improvements to local infrastructure designed to curb persistent flooding. The City of Miami Gardens Department of Public Works has begun the Vista Verde Phase #4 Project, an initiative focused on enhancing roadway and drainage systems.
The project aims to mitigate flooding affecting the community, a common issue in South Florida exacerbated by heavy rains and potential hurricane impacts. The improvements will reduce the frequency and severity of flooding and improve stormwater runoff quality.
A central feature is the construction of an on-site French Drain System. This system will retain normal stormwater runoff and filter the water before release, supporting the city's commitment to preserving its green spaces and parks. The project also reinforces the city's dedication to maintaining and upgrading its roadway infrastructure for residents.
The Vista Verde Phase #4 Project began in February 2021 and is projected for completion within six months, at an estimated cost of $1,701,380.
