Melissa & Doug Fire Trucks Recalled in Miami Gardens for Choking Hazard

Miami Gardens families who purchased Melissa & Doug Lights and Sound Fire Trucks should check their toys, as approximately 84,000 units have been recalled nationwide due to a potential choking hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall, which affects toys sold at Target and online.

The fire hose port can detach from the toy, posing a risk to young children. The brand name "Melissa & Doug" appears on the battery compartment box on the toy's underside.

Consumers should check the date codes on their toys. The recall targets units with the first arrow pointing to 25 for the year and the second arrow pointing to 4 or 5, or those with the first arrow pointing to 26 and the second arrow pointing to 3. Date codes OET 25100, OET 25150, or OET 26064 printed on the packaging also indicate a recalled toy.

The toys were sold at Target stores and online between July 2025 and August 2026 for approximately $30.

Owners of the recalled toys must register them on the Melissa & Doug website to receive a free replacement toy or a refund. Options include a $30 refund by check or $40 in store credit for melissaanddoug.com. To process the recall, customers must remove the batteries, write "RECALL" and a unique code on the front of the toy, cut off the black hose, and upload photos of the modified toy to the registration page.
