Dolphins' Robinson Out Week 2 With Concussion

Miami Dolphins edge rusher Chop Robinson will miss the team's Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a concussion sustained in practice this week. Coach Jeff Hafley confirmed Robinson's absence.

Robinson's absence weakens a Dolphins defense that struggled against the run and pass rush in its Week 1 loss to the Raiders. Quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 21 of 30 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Ashton Jeanty rushed for 102 yards on 23 attempts.

Hafley told reporters Friday at the team's training site in Napa, California, that Robinson did not practice Thursday. This marks Robinson's third concussion in two seasons. The third-year player showed promise in the preseason but recorded only one tackle in the season opener.

The Dolphins will likely turn to veteran Josh Uche and second-year defensive tackle Zeek Biggers. Malik Herring, signed recently, and Clelin Ferrell, elevated from the practice squad, also provide depth. "We might do some other things to help out, but those guys I have confidence in," Hafley said. "They’ve been getting better. They all haven’t been here for the entire time, but they’ve done a nice job in practice this week and it’ll be the next man up."

The Dolphins will decide at the end of the season whether to exercise the fifth-year option on Robinson's rookie contract.
