Broward County Flood Advisory: Heavy Rain Expected

Broward County remains under a flood advisory until 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2026. The National Weather Service issued the advisory due to expectations of flooding from excessive rainfall.

The region has experienced high moisture levels and light winds, contributing to slow-moving showers and thunderstorms. As of 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, southern Palm Beach and metro Broward counties had received 1 to 3 inches of rain, with an additional 1 to 2 inches anticipated. This rainfall could cause minor flooding in low-lying areas, poorly drained zones, and on roadways.

The storms also caused ground stops Friday at Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The National Weather Service expects this pattern of frequent rain to continue through the weekend and into next week.

Officials noted the persistent rain provides drought relief for South Florida.

Residents should monitor weather updates and avoid driving through flooded areas. The flood advisory for Broward County is in effect until 5:30 p.m. Friday.
