Man Shot by Accidental Gun Discharge at North Miami Bus Stop

A man accidentally shot himself in the groin Wednesday afternoon at a North Miami bus stop. Police are investigating the incident and his current condition is unknown.

A man sustained a gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon after his firearm accidentally discharged at a North Miami transit bus stop. Police responded to Northeast Sixth Avenue near Biscayne Boulevard after the incident occurred.

According to police, the man was exiting a bus when his firearm, believed to be in his waistband, discharged and struck him in the groin. Witnesses reported hearing the shot and saw the man run off near a 7-Eleven.

North Miami Police officers quickly secured the area, taped off the bus stop and interviewed witnesses. Paramedics found the man and transported him to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Detectives recovered and secured the firearm. The investigation into the discharge was ongoing late Wednesday. The transit bus involved was called back to the scene for further investigation.
