Mensah passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns, adding another score on the ground. His four touchdowns all occurred in the second quarter, contributing to a substantial 35-3 halftime lead. This strong showing helped Miami maintain its impressive start to the season, a point of pride for local fans.
Wide receiver Malachi Toney was a key contributor, catching six passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. Cooper Barkate and Daylyn Upshaw also secured scoring passes from Mensah, who completed 23 of 27 throws. Offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather even got in on the scoring, credited with a touchdown after falling on a fumble. Running backs Javian Mallory and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey each ran for scores.
Mensah's season completion percentage now stands at 88.7%, with 14 touchdown throws, only 12 incompletions, and zero interceptions. Coach Mario Cristobal praised Mensah's ability to spread the ball around and extend plays. During halftime, Miami honored its 1991 national championship team, a moment that resonated with many long-time residents and fans.
Miami played without top running back Mark Fletcher Jr., who was out with an upper body injury. Coach Cristobal indicated that Fletcher Jr. should be available for the upcoming game against Clemson next week. Central Michigan, now with a 2-2 record, saw Jadyn Glasser complete 13 of 15 passes for 88 yards.
