As general manager from 1987 to 1998, Claire assembled the Dodgers team that defeated the heavily favored Oakland Athletics in the 1988 World Series. Kirk Gibson's dramatic pinch-hit home run in Game 1 remains one of baseball's most memorable moments.
Claire spent more than three decades with the Dodgers in various capacities. He was widely respected for his sharp baseball knowledge and dedication to the sport.
