Miami Marlins pitcher Eury Pérez delivered a historic performance Friday night, throwing a complete-game one-hitter against the Atlanta Braves. The 3-0 victory at home marked only the 11th complete-game shutout in Major League Baseball this season, a rare feat in modern baseball.
Pérez, a 23-year-old right-hander, dominated the Braves lineup, allowing just one hit through nine innings. This exceptional outing was Pérez's first complete game in his 68 career starts, and it helped the Marlins snap a six-game losing streak against the NL East champion Braves.
The Marlins' offense provided timely support for Pérez. Joe Mack and Griffin Conine each hit home runs, with Mack's 14th homer of the season coming in the seventh inning off Grant Holmes. Heriberto Hernández also contributed with an RBI single, securing the 3-0 win.
This win brought the Marlins' season record to 79-81, matching their total wins from last season. The team is now working to avoid a third consecutive losing season. Before the game, the Marlins held a moment of silence to commemorate the 10th anniversary of former Marlins pitcher José Fernández's death in a boating accident.
The series against the Braves continues today, Saturday, September 29, 2026, at loanDepot Park. Fans can expect another competitive matchup as the Marlins aim to build on Friday's momentum.
