Rip Current Warning Issued for Lake and Ashtabula Lakeshore Until Wednesday

SWIMMERS SHOULD REMAIN OUT OF THE WATER due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland, OH. The statement is effective from Tuesday, September 22, at 11:02 PM EDT until Wednesday, September 23, at 10:00 PM EDT.

A high risk of rip currents is expected along the Lake and Ashtabula Lakeshore Counties. Wind and wave action will create currents on the lakeshore. These currents can carry swimmers away from shore through sandbars and along structures extending into the lake.

The NWS advises individuals not to enter the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions. This warning is in effect through Wednesday evening. For your safety, do not attempt to swim in the affected areas during this period.
