Treasurer / Tax Collector Mariposa County unsecured taxes are mailed in august each year and due by september 30. secured taxes are mailed by the end of october and will be due in two installments by december 10 and april 10. Plan ahead and pay your secured taxes MONTHLY in advance with EASY SMART PAY. Although our computer system does not allow for monthly payments, Easy Smart Pay will collect your monthly tax payments for you and make your payment to the county before the due date. Fees May Apply. We have provided a secure drop box available 24 hours outside the front door of our building located at 4982 10th street in Mariposa. To assist our taxpayers, we have waived the E-Check/EFT fee. You may make your payment on our website by clicking the circle below that says "PAY A BILL" with an E-Check for FREE or by using your Credit Card for a convenience fee of 2.5% (minimum of $2.50) or your Debit card for a convenience fee of 1%. Tax Collector Duties The Tax Collector’s Department collects taxes, sells tax-defaulted land, and assists Taxpayers, Mortgage and Title companies, and members of the public with current and past information regarding local property taxation. Our office provides the best customer service to meet the needs of our constituents. Transient Occupancy Taxes (TOT) and Tourism Business Improvement District (tbid) assessment The Treasurer- Tax Collector collects the TOT and TBID assessments. All rentals must be approved prior to renting in Mariposa County. The TOT and TBID tax is imposed on people who stay less than 30 days. Summer Fun The Mariposa Sheriff’s Department would like to remind everyone of keeping safety in mind as they start the summer weekend activities along the many waterways in Mariposa County. The Sheriff’s Boating Enforcement program emphasizes the need for all boaters to keep aware of others on the waterways, observe the speed limits, usage of Personal Flotation Devices and to drive soberly and safely. Extra Patrols The Sheriff’s Patrol Division will be providing extra patrol along the Merced River from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Sheriff’s bike patrol officers will be occasionally in the River Canyon to ensure the safety of all who use this popular recreation area. Users should be aware that the Merced River currents are often strong and unpredictable and Personal Flotation Devices should be used. Have a safe summer.
