Scope and content: Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad bridge over Running Water Creek (Whiteside), Tennessee. Rebuilt by the 59th Illinois Regiment, Union Army in 1863 after retreating Confederate Army destroyed the original bridge, at a cost of $95,000.00. At five hundred feet in length and ninety-five feet high, with the wooden trestle extending the length to 780 feet. it became one of the Civil War's greatest feats of military engineering. Exhibit of artifacts found at Kelly's Ferry in Marion County, Tenn. The community on the Tennessee River was the site of a Union camp during the Chattanooga Campaign.
