A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Marion County, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, as of October 9 at 6:57 PM CDT. The warning is set to expire on October 10 at 3:00 AM UTC.
Residents in Hamilton and surrounding areas should prepare for hazardous winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Efforts to protect property, including securing lightweight objects and unanchored structures, should be completed now. Limited damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and some trees is possible, along with scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate flooding is anticipated, which could lead to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could impact structures, underpasses, and low-lying areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life. Hazardous driving conditions are expected, especially on bridges and elevated roadways, with some road closures possible.
