A High Wind Watch has been issued for ten counties in our area, with gusts up to 50 mph possible from late Friday night through late Saturday night; residents should secure loose objects and prepare for potential power outages.
Residents in Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, and Cleburne Counties are advised to secure loose outdoor objects. A High Wind Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, Alabama, effective from late Friday night through late Saturday night, October 10th to October 11th.
East winds are expected to reach 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph possible. The NWS warns that these damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages. Travel may become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Fasten loose objects or shelter them in a safe location before the onset of winds.
