Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Marengo County: Prepare for High Winds, Flooding

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Marengo County, including Demopolis and Linden, until October 10, 2026, with residents urged to seek shelter due to potential 50 mph wind gusts and major flooding.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Marengo County, including Demopolis and Linden, effective immediately until 6:00 AM UTC on October 10, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning at 9:56 PM CDT on October 9, 2026.

Residents should move to safe shelter now as hazardous winds are expected. Peak wind gusts could reach 50 mph, with sustained winds of 15-25 mph. This could cause damage to porches, awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect broken tree limbs, some downed trees, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are possible, especially on bridges.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with potential for major flooding from heavy rain. An additional 1 inch of rain is expected. Evacuations and rescues are likely in flood-prone areas. Rivers and small streams may overflow their banks, and floodwaters could enter structures. Driving conditions will become dangerous, with many road closures possible. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately.

Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For more information and preparedness resources, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
