Dangerous Lake Michigan Swimming Conditions Tonight for Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for Lake Michigan in Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc Counties from tonight until early tomorrow morning, with dangerous currents and high waves expected; residents are urged to stay out of the water.
Residents and visitors in Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc Counties are advised to remain out of Lake Michigan waters tonight due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay.
The statement is effective immediately, from 9:15 PM CDT on September 30, 2026, until 4:00 AM CDT on October 1, 2026. High waves and dangerous currents are expected along the Lake Michigan shoreline, creating hazardous swimming conditions.
The NWS warns that strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water, and high waves pose a risk of sweeping individuals off piers. Beaches most susceptible to these dangerous conditions include Rock Island State Beach, Baileys Harbor beaches, and Whitefish Dunes Beach in Door County. In Kewaunee County, Cresent Beach and City of Kewaunee Beach are affected. Point Beach, Neshotah Beach, and Red Arrow Beach in Manitowoc County are also included.
For your safety, do not enter the water during this period to avoid these hazardous swimming conditions.
