Drivers in central North Dakota are advised to use extreme caution this morning due to patchy fog significantly reducing visibility. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Bismarck has issued a Special Weather Statement effective immediately, October 10, 2026, at 6:48 AM CDT.
Visibility may be reduced to one-quarter mile or less in the affected areas. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. The NWS recommends using low beam headlights and exercising extra caution at intersections and railroad crossings.
This advisory impacts Mercer, Oliver, Sheridan, Burleigh, Grant, Western McLean, Eastern McLean, Western Morton, and Eastern Morton counties. The fog is expected to dissipate by 10:00 AM CDT. The Special Weather Statement is set to expire at 9:00 AM UTC (4:00 AM CDT), but the NWS anticipates the fog will persist for a few more hours.
