Lake Wind Advisory: Boaters Advised Caution Until 8 PM PDT
A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect until 8 PM PDT for Mono County and the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area, warning boaters of strong winds and hazardous conditions.
Boaters on area lakes are advised to exercise extreme caution or postpone activities today due to a Lake Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Reno NV. The advisory is in effect until 8 PM PDT this evening, September 25th.
Strong southwest winds between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, are expected. These conditions will create rough waves and hazardous situations for small craft.
The advisory impacts Mono County in California and the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area in Nevada.
Residents planning to be on the water should check current lake conditions before departure and be prepared for a sudden increase in wind speed and wave heights. The NWS recommends considering postponing boating until winds subside.
