A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains from Saturday evening through Monday morning, with heavy wet snow and gusty winds expected.

Residents in the Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, effective from Saturday, October 10th, at 6:00 PM MDT until Monday, October 12th, at 6:00 AM MDT.

Heavy wet snow is possible, with total accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. Isolated amounts of up to 12 inches are anticipated above 8,000 feet. The West Yellowstone area and valleys near the Idaho border could see up to 2 inches of snow. Gusty winds, potentially reaching 45 mph, are also expected. These conditions could make travel difficult and may lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages due to the wet and heavy nature of the snow.

Snowfall amounts will vary between grassy surfaces and roadways, especially at lower elevations, with accumulations on non-grassy surfaces primarily occurring between the evening and late morning hours. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511.
