Residents in portions of central and southwest Montana should prepare for winter weather conditions. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service Great Falls MT, effective from Saturday, October 10 at 6:00 PM MDT until Monday, October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT.

The advisory affects the Canyon Ferry Area, Missouri Headwaters, Madison River Valley, Gallatin Valley, Northwest Beaverhead County, Beaverhead and Western Madison below 6000ft, and the Ruby Mountains and Southern Beaverhead Mountains.

Snow is expected, with total accumulations of 2 to 5 inches in lower elevations and 5 to 8 inches in the mountains. Winds are forecast to gust as high as 40 mph. These conditions could make travel difficult. Gusty winds combined with wet, heavy snow may cause tree branches to fall, leading to isolated power outages.

The National Weather Service advises all travelers to slow down and use caution. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511.
