JONES AND BIBB COUNTIES, GA – Residents in Jones and Bibb Counties, particularly in areas including Macon, Gray, Payne, and Rutland, are advised to seek immediate shelter due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA.
A strong storm within a tropical rain band, exhibiting localized rotation, was detected by radar at 9:01 AM EDT today, October 10. The storm is moving north at 35 mph and poses an enhanced risk of a brief tornado. The NWS warns that a tornado could form quickly.
This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires at 9:30 AM EDT today, October 10. The NWS advises all people outdoors in the affected areas to seek shelter immediately. Other impacted locations include Payne City, Cross Keys, Wesleyan, Wayside, Arkwright, Round Oak, and Clinton.
