FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 9, 2026 LOUISA COUNTY RECEIVES EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING AWARD LOUISA, VIRGINIA – The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the County of Louisa for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. "The Louisa County Board of Supervisors once again applauds Deputy County Administrator Wanda Colvin and her team in Finance for earning this recognition," said Patrick Henry District Supervisor Fitzgerald Barnes. "The program's 50‑page checklist underscores how much work goes into preparing an outstanding annual comprehensive financial report for citizen review." Louisa County is a multi-year recipient of GFOA's Excellence in Financial Reporting award. Household Hazardous Waste Day is October 31, 2026

"The Louisa County General Services Department holds at least two Household Hazardous Waste Day events every calendar year. One takes place in the Spring and one in the Fall. The events are designed to allow residents the chance to dispose of common hazardous household wastes free of charge. These wastes cannot be placed in the landfill and there is no local vendor they can be taken to for recycling. Household Hazardous Waste Day events are one way the County of Louisa aims to protect the environment for the future. Other ways are the recycling programs the County offers at its refuse sites including comingle, cardboard, and used oil recycling.
