Extreme Heat Warning Issued for LA and Ventura Counties
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, effective from today, October 2nd, at 10:38 AM PDT until October 8th at 8:00 PM PDT, with temperatures reaching up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Residents across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties should prepare for dangerously hot conditions, with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect starting today, October 2nd, at 10:38 AM PDT and continuing until Thursday, October 8th, at 8:00 PM PDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA has issued this warning.
Temperatures are expected to reach up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast and up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit in the valleys. This includes Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, the Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, Ojai Valley, Central Ventura County Valleys, Malibu Coast, Los Angeles County Beaches, Palos Verdes Hills, Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles, Western Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Calabasas and Agoura Hills, Western San Fernando Valley, Eastern San Fernando Valley, Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, Santa Susana Mountains, and the Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley.
Heat-related illnesses are a significant concern during extreme heat events. The NWS advises all residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Very hot temperatures may persist into the second week of October, potentially requiring an extension of this warning.
