Bradenton Woman Arrested in December Homicide Case
Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Susan Avalon, 51, on June 3 in connection with a December shooting death in Bradenton. Avalon faces murder charges.
On December 17, 2025, deputies responded to a shooting at a residence in the 7000 block of Chatum Light Run at approximately 2:55 p.m. A 54-year-old man answered his door and was shot twice. He died at a local hospital that evening.
The victim told deputies the shooter came to his home intentionally. Detectives determined the shooting was targeted, not random.
Detectives identified Avalon as a person of interest on December 18 and located her at a Citrus County residence. Evidence from the victim and the investigation provided probable cause for the murder charge.
Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells said homicide detectives coordinated with Tampa Police Department on a related homicide in TPD's jurisdiction. Investigators found credible evidence linking the two cases.
