Residents in Southern Wheatland, Beartooth Foothills, Livingston Area, Northern Park, and Northern Sweet Grass should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and potential power outages due to a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Billings, MT.
The advisory is effective immediately, October 11 at 12:57 AM MDT, and remains in effect until Monday, October 12 at 12:00 PM MDT. Periods of wet and blowing snow are expected, with total snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches. Localized higher amounts are possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.
Travel will be difficult, particularly on US-191 from Big Timber to Judith Gap, I-90 from Big Timber to Livingston, and over Bozeman Pass. The NWS anticipates conditions on I-90 over Bozeman Pass to become especially hazardous. Slushy or snow-covered roads and poor visibility are expected.
Property owners should be aware that significant snow accumulation may lead to tree and power line damage, resulting in potential power outages. The NWS advises all travelers to slow down and use caution. Expect areas of poor visibility. For the latest road conditions, call 511.
