Dense Fog Advisory: Drive with Caution Until 9 AM
A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service for dense fog affecting multiple counties until 9 AM today, October 6, urging drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
Residents in Lincoln, McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond, Burke, Chesterfield, McCormick, Newberry, Fairfield, Kershaw, Edgefield, Saluda, Lexington, Richland, Lee, Aiken, Sumter, Barnwell, Calhoun, Clarendon, Bamberg, Northern Lancaster, Southern Lancaster, Northwestern Orangeburg, Central Orangeburg, and Southeastern Orangeburg counties should prepare for patchy to widespread fog this morning, October 6.
The National Weather Service in Columbia, SC, issued a Special Weather Statement at 4:08 AM EDT. The fog, which may become dense, is expected to restrict visibilities to less than a half to a quarter of a mile in affected areas. The alert is effective immediately and is set to expire by 9:00 AM EDT today.
Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution. Be alert for rapid changes in visibilities over short distances. Safety recommendations include slowing down, using low-beam headlights, and maintaining extra distance between your vehicle and others. The fog is expected to lift after 9 AM.
