Residents in the Moses Lake Area and Upper Columbia Basin are advised to prepare for hazardous driving conditions due to a Blowing Dust Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Spokane WA. The advisory is effective from 9 AM to 5 PM PDT on Sunday, October 11.

Patchy to localized areas of blowing dust are expected, potentially reducing visibility to between one-quarter and one mile at times. Northeast winds are forecast at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Areas affected include Ephrata, Othello, Quincy, Odessa, Ritzville, Harrington, Wilbur, Coulee City, Creston, Moses Lake, and Grand Coulee.

The National Weather Service advises drivers to be ready for sudden drops in visibility. If you encounter blowing dust or sand on the roadway, or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn all lights off and keep your foot off the brake pedal. Remember the safety message: 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.
