Blowing Dust Advisory: Visibility Reduced in Palouse, Upper Columbia Basin
A Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect for the Washington Palouse and Upper Columbia Basin until 6:00 PM PDT today, warning of reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions.
Residents in the Washington Palouse and Upper Columbia Basin are advised to prepare for significantly reduced visibility due to a Blowing Dust Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Spokane WA. The advisory is in effect immediately, from 1:02 PM PDT today, September 29, until 6:00 PM PDT this evening.
Visibility is expected to drop between one-quarter and one mile in areas including La Crosse, Creston, Rosalia, Pullman, Colfax, Grand Coulee, Odessa, Coulee City, Ritzville, Harrington, Uniontown, Wilbur, Oakesdale, and Tekoa. These conditions will create hazardous driving.
Motorists should be ready for a sudden drop in visibility. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep your foot off the brake pedal. Remember the safety directive: 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.
