The dredge Amelia Island is arriving today, Monday, May 4. The contractor, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, plans to return with the dredge today, begin calibrations to ensure everything is running correctly and begin work by Tuesday. Crews will start beach renourishment in the Horry County section, generally from Singleton Swash to Apache Pier, to avoid ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic events. After Mother’s Day weekend, work will continue in Myrtle Beach from Bear Branch Swash to the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The project has experienced delays due to equipment issues. Once complete, GLDD will return to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers federal project in southern Myrtle Beach. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers live tracker is available for the federal project ONLY, not for the local Arcadian Shores work.
