Julianne Mullinix, 62

Julianne McMakin Mullinix passed away on June 3, 2026, after a long-fought battle with cancer. Julianne was known by many names—Julie, Julia, and Juju. Julianne was born on August 5, 1963. She graduated from Bryan Station High School.After high school, she spent many years dedicated to her family’s McDonald’s restaurants. She remained faithful to McDonald’s until her last day.Although Julianne did not have children of her own, her love for children ran deep. She started babysitting over 30 years ago and continued until the summer of 2025. She was the best babysitter—just ask any of her kids!She had a true love for the country. She loved Keeneland and watching the horses race. Especially her dad’s horses. She also enjoyed the beach, and summer vacation was something she looked forward to every year.She was a true gem. To know her was to love her.Julianne is survived by her amazing, loving, and devoted father and stepmother, William Nelson McMakin and Elsie Steele McMakin of Lexington. Also survived by her step brother Lance Long, his wife Denise Long, and their daughters Emma and Larissa Long of Lexington.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at W. R. Milward Funeral Home – Broadway. A private graveside service for close friends and family will follow at 1:30 p.m. at The Lexington Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest alongside her mother, Jimmie; her two brothers, Michael and Marty; as well as her nephew, who preceded her in death.Contributions may be made in her honor to Ronald McDonald House Lexington P.O. Frank Edward McChord, 81

Frank Edward “Ed” McChord, 81, of Lexington, Kentucky died Saturday May 30th, 2026 from heart failure. Ed was born in Lexington, Kentucky on October 11, 1944 to Willmott Winfield McChord and Iona Varney. His parents were deaf and he was signing before he could speak. His dad instilled in him a lifelong love of fishing.He enlisted in the Army and was taught Russian at Monterey Language Institute. He was stationed in Synop, Turkey on the Black Sea.He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Russian Language and Literature. He worked as a drug counselor for Comprehensive Care, a sign-language interpreter for Central Kentucky Technical College and as a Counselor for the Deaf for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, where he retired in 2004.He was a natural storyteller and always ready with a joke. He loved to sing and play guitar. He was a loving husband and father.He is survived by his wife, Nanette Fleming; five children, Katherine McChord of Lexington, Andrew McChord of Lexington, Samuel McChord (Johanna) of Stuttgart, Germany, Emily McChord Warren (Kyle) of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Byron McChord of Lexington; and nine grandchildren, Hannah, Lindsay, Owen, Aiden, Evelyn, Ashton, Austin, Eleanor and Charlotte.The Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m Thursday June 4, 2026 at Milward - Southland located at 391 Southland Drive. The Memorial Service will follow at 1 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KET, the Cathedral Domain, or the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Foundation. Bennie Ray McWain Jr, 57

Bennie Ray McWain Jr, 57 of Frankfort, KY, passed away peacefully on May 26th, 2026. He was a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.Bennie was born in Charleston, WV on March 7th, 1969 to Bennie Ray McWain Sr and Carol Sue McWain (Duncan). Bennie served the Kentucky General Assembly as a dedicated member of the Legislative Research Commission for nearly thirty years,during which time he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his warmth, integrity, and professionalism. He dedicated his life to his family, his passions for music, travel, and the beach. His humor, laughter, and loving spirit brightened the lives of all who knew him.Bennie is survived by his wife of nearly twenty-six years, Susan Best McWain of Frankfort, KY; his sisters Kelley McWain Stapleton (Jeff Moberly) of Harrodsburg, KY and Natalie McWain of Paris, KY; his niece Emily McWain of Lexington, KY; his nephew Eric Conner of Lexington, KY; and numerous beloved Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Bennie Sr and Carol Sue.A celebration of Bennie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at Lexington First Church of God, 505 Kingston Rd Lexington, KY. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their favorite memories.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bennie's memory to Jessamine County Animal Care and Control.
