Winter Storm Warning for Big Belt, Bridger, and Castle Mountains
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy, wet snow has been issued by the NWS Great Falls MT for the Big Belt, Bridger, and Castle Mountains, effective until October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT, with difficult travel and isolated power outages possible.
Residents in the Big Belt, Bridger, and Castle Mountains should prepare for heavy, wet snow and difficult travel conditions as a Winter Storm Warning has been issued. The warning is effective from October 11 at 10:29 AM MDT until October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Great Falls, MT, reports that additional snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches are expected. Travel could be very difficult, and gusty winds combined with the wet, heavy snow may bring down tree branches, leading to isolated power outages.
Snowfall amounts will vary, particularly at lower elevations, with significant accumulations on non-grassy surfaces expected mainly from this evening through late morning.
If travel is unavoidable, the NWS advises keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle. For the latest road conditions, call 511.
