Winter Storm Warning: Big Belt, Bridger, Castle Mountains Brace for Heavy Snow

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Big Belt, Bridger, and Castle Mountains, effective from 6 PM this evening, October 10th, until 6 AM MDT Monday, October 12th. The National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, warns of heavy snow accumulations and strong winds, creating hazardous conditions.

Residents in the affected mountain ranges should prepare for 6 to 13 inches of snow. Gusts are expected to reach up to 40 mph, which could lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages. Travel is anticipated to be very difficult.

If travel is unavoidable, the National Weather Service advises carrying an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle. For the latest road conditions, dial 511.
