Travelers in Central and North Central Montana should prepare for reduced visibility due to ongoing fog this morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Great Falls has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 11:00 AM MDT today, October 12, 2026.

Areas affected include the Northern High Plains, Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, Central Pondera, Eastern Toole, Liberty, Hill, Northern Blaine, Southern High Plains, Eastern Pondera, Eastern Teton, Western and Central Chouteau, Cascade County below 5000ft, Judith Basin and Judith Gap, and Fergus County below 4500ft. Visibility is generally reduced to 1 to 3 miles, with localized areas potentially seeing reductions to near a quarter-mile, especially near terrain.

Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra time to reach their destinations, and use low beam headlights. Be aware of the potential for slippery conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
