Residents in Avery, Burke Mountains, Caldwell Mountains, Henderson, McDowell Mountains, Polk Mountains, and Rutherford Mountains Counties should prepare for a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Greenville-Spartanburg SC.

The advisory is in effect from now until 8:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11. East winds are expected to reach 10 to 20 mph, with occasional gusts up to 40 mph possible. A few locations may experience brief gusts up to 45 mph.

These strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution. Gusty winds may also blow around unsecured objects. There is a potential for tree limbs to be blown down, and a few power outages may occur. Trees rooted in saturated soil are at increased risk of toppling.

Stay informed by monitoring local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further developments regarding this Wind Advisory.
