Mary & Martha House Needs Help After Hurricane Damage

DONATE NOW The devastati

DONATE NOW The devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left our community facing significant challenges, and one of the places is the Mary & Martha House, a shelter that has been serving women and families in crisis for over 40 years.“Take care of your house first. If your house is good, help your neighbor,” has been a guiding principle for many in our community. Today, this metaphor has taken on a literal meaning as we urge everyone to prioritize their own recovery while extending support to neighbors in need. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this storm, and we are hopeful for a swift and safe return to normalcy for everyone.Unfortunately, Mary & Martha House did not escape the storm’s wrath. During post-storm shelter checks on Friday, staff discovered flooding had left a water line of about one foot high throughout the entire building. Every piece of furniture in the shelter has been destroyed, and extensive damage has been done to the structure itself. Thankfully, all three families who were staying at the shelter had safely evacuated before the storm hit.We Need Your HelpWe are calling on the community for support. Mary & Martha House is in urgent need of financial contributions, volunteers, and temporary housing solutions for the families displaced by the storm. Here’s how you can help:Monetary Donations – We are accepting financial donations to help cover the cost of:Demolition of walls and cabinetsMold remediationAsbestos testingDisplacement costs for families currently without housingOther essential repairsYou can donate by clicking the “Donate” button on the top right of the webpage.Volunteer Hours – If you are able to help with labor-intensive work such as demolition and cleanup, please contact us directly to coordinate volunteer shifts. Your help is invaluable as we work to rebuild.Temporary Housing – We are seeking temporary accommodations for the families displaced by the storm. If you can offer an Airbnb or hotel stay, please reach out to us as soon as possible.Due to the extent of the damage, this recovery will be carried out in phases. At this time, we cannot accept donations of furniture until mold remediation is complete and the shelter is cleared for reconstruction. Once we have made the necessary repairs, we will be asking for donations of furniture, beds, and other household goods to help restore the shelter. If you are recovering from the storm, please prioritize your safety and your home first. For those in a position to assist, we humbly ask for your help. Mary & Martha House has weathered many challenges in its four decades of service, and with the community’s support, we are confident that we will rebuild and come back stronger. For more information on how to donate, volunteer, or offer temporary housing, please visit www.marymarthahouse.org or contact executive director Bill Chini. Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. Together, we will help our neighbors and restore hope to those in need.About Mary & Martha House:Mary & Martha House provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and supportive services for women and children in crisis. Since its founding, the shelter has been a vital resource for families in need, helping them achieve self-sufficiency and stability. Hangout Fest Returns After 2-Year Hiatus

Coming soon, the Hangout Music Festival will be back on the beautiful Gulf Shores public beaches May 20 - 22. The Festival began in 2010 and has grown through the years bringing in more than 40,000 fans a day to the last festival in 2019. Hangout 2020 and 2021 did not happen due to Covid and loyal fans expect this comeback year to be better than ever. This beachside festival is considered one of the top destinations in the world for musical entertainment. The 2022 line up includes more than 80 acts. From Grammy award winning artists to local talent who won the battle of the bands to take the stage, year after year the Hangout Music Fest delivers the best names in pop, rock, rap, dance music and more but itrsquo;s the festival perks and location that makes this music fest a top-tier event. Located on the sugar white sands of the Gulf Shores public beach adjacent to the Hangout Restaurant, the Hangout Music Festival provides 13 separate experience areas where festival goers can enjoy everything from cooling off in swimming pools, swaying to the Gulf breezes in hammocks, enjoying delicious food, beach volleyball, a tropical spa, morning yoga sessions, sailing, roller disco and so much more. Anyone wanting a break from all that the festival has to offer can enjoy the many activities that the Gulf Coast provides. Whether itrsquo;s shopping, dining, amusement parks or water activities, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and the surrounding community has something for everyone. The Gulf Coast provides many of the options of a big city all with a small town feel and southern charm. The festival offers a shuttle service that runs every 30 minutes, making it easy for festival fans to enjoy the sun, sand and sweet music. What does the Hangout Music Festival mean to real estate investors? Hangout Fest provides national exposure, nationwide advertising, brings business to the area and gives back to the community with local community philanthropy and engagement. National Exposure - when people talk about the Hangout Festival they talk about Gulf Shores. Once an unknown, sleepy, fishing village located at the bottom of the state of Alabama on the beautiful Gulf Coast, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are now well known vacation destinations bringing in 6.1 million visitors to Alabamarsquo;s coastal destination in 2019. National Advertising ndash; Hangout Fest brings in the music industrys top talent. It is also co-produced by Goldenvoice, the company behind Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Itrsquo;s not just the Hangout Festival that is being advertised and talked about, the Alabama Gulf Coast is being promoted as well. Tourism ndash; Beyond the 40,000 fans a day that are enjoying all that the Gulf Coast has to offer during Hangout Fest, these fans are falling in love with the area and returning year round for family vacations or weekend getaways. Community Engagementnbsp;- the Hangout Music Festival has sought to uplift the local community by investing in the area. Most recently $100,000 was donated to Gulf Shores City Schools to build a state of the art music lab including a recording studio, musical instruments and stage complete with sound and lighting. I personally live in Gulf Shores because I love the small town, big beach. There is always something to do but with the southern charm of a small town. I own and rent condominiums on the beach because they are a great investment. My units more than pay for themselves with the rent they bring in. If you are interested in our small town, big beach, give me a call. I would love to help you find a property that is right for you. You can reach me, Mike Cranston, directly at 251- 504-1121 or on my website at www.condoinvestment.com
