Art Displays @ the Library
The Niceville Public Library showcases and supports local talent by offering space for individuals and organizations to display their artwork, crafts or collections. The library has two illuminated display cases which remain locked while in use. For framed and canvas artwork, the library provides floor and table-top easels. To ensure a smooth process for both artists and the library, the following guidelines apply: Exhibits are scheduled by the Reference Manager on a monthly basis. Artists are responsible for both the installation and removal of their displays. All artwork must be retrieved before the library’s last business day of the month, unless prior arrangements are made with the Reference Manager. Any items not removed by the artist will be considered abandoned and become property of the library. Library staff will not be involved in the sale of display items. All transactions must be conducted directly between the artist and the interested party. For available pieces, the artist may attach a business card or label including (a) their contact information and (b) the price of the item for sale. The interested party may then contact the artist directly to arrange purchase or ask any questions they may have. Pieces in an exhibit may be switched out during the month, but the artist must notify the Reference Manager before making changes. Placement and allotment of easels are determined by the library. If you are interested, please complete the online Art Display Application. The Reference Manager will be in contact upon review of the application. Click here to download a printable application. Books-By-Mail
Books-By-Mail is a convenient service that supplies books, audiobooks, and videos to people who cannot travel to the library. Who can get Books-By-Mail? Children and adults in the county who cannot visit a library due to temporary or long-term physical or medical disabilities may qualify for Books-By-Mail. A current library card from one of the member libraries is needed. If you don’t have a card, please call your local library for assistance. How does it work? Materials are sent through the mail in a zippered nylon bag. When the materials are due for return, the patron attaches postage and mails the bag back. The bag may be dropped off at any OCPLC member library to save on return postage. Certain disabilities qualify for federal postage-free return service. Contact your local post office for more information. Which titles will I receive? Visit our online catalog to browse our materials. Email your requests to us or call the telephone number below. If you’d like to establish a "standing order" style request list, or would like suggestions of titles you may enjoy, we are happy to provide that service.
