Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Plymouth, Sioux (IA), Union (SD)
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Plymouth, Sioux (IA), and Union (SD) counties until 8:15 PM CDT, with quarter-sized hail expected; seek shelter immediately.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for north central Plymouth County and southern Sioux County in northwestern Iowa, and northeastern Union County in southeastern South Dakota. Residents in these areas should seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows immediately.
The warning is in effect from 7:34 PM CDT until 8:15 PM CDT today, October 8. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls issued this warning based on radar indications of a severe thunderstorm over Hawarden, moving southeast at 35 mph.
The primary hazard is quarter-sized hail, which is expected to cause damage to vehicles. The storm is anticipated to be near Hawarden around 7:35 PM CDT, Ireton around 7:45 PM CDT, Craig around 7:50 PM CDT, and Maurice around 7:55 PM CDT. Other locations impacted include Chatsworth, Struble, Brunsville, and Le Mars. This storm is capable of producing large hail.
