Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Cherokee, O'Brien, Plymouth, Sioux Counties
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Cherokee, O'Brien, Plymouth, and Sioux Counties until 2:45 AM CDT, with ping pong ball-sized hail expected; seek immediate shelter.
Residents in northwestern Cherokee, southwestern O'Brien, northeastern Plymouth, and southeastern Sioux Counties must seek immediate shelter. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, effective until 2:45 AM CDT today, October 9.
At 1:53 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles northeast of Remsen, moving east at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing ping pong ball-sized hail. People and animals outdoors will be injured, and damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles is expected.
The storm is anticipated to impact Granville around 2:00 AM CDT, Marcus around 2:05 AM CDT, Cleghorn around 2:15 AM CDT, and Paullina around 2:20 AM CDT. Meriden will also be impacted. All residents in the affected areas should move indoors to a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
