Residents in northeastern Plymouth County and southeastern Sioux County, Iowa, should seek shelter immediately. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 2:00 AM CDT today, October 9.

At 1:13 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Maurice, moving east at 25 mph. This storm is producing half-dollar-sized hail, with damage to vehicles expected. This information comes from a public report.

The severe thunderstorm is expected to impact Ireton, Craig, and Sioux Center around 1:15 AM CDT; Maurice and Struble around 1:20 AM CDT; and Orange City around 1:35 AM CDT. Other locations in the warning area include Alton, Oyens, Remsen, and Granville.

For your safety, seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm has already produced large hail. Report severe weather to your nearest law enforcement agency or the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls, SD.
