Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Plymouth County until 11:30 PM CDT
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for central Plymouth County, Iowa, until 11:30 PM CDT tonight, October 8, with half-dollar-sized hail expected; residents should seek immediate shelter.
PLYMOUTH COUNTY, IA – Residents in central Plymouth County are advised to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.
The warning is in effect until 11:30 PM CDT tonight, October 8. At 10:46 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Craig, approximately 8 miles northwest of Le Mars, moving southeast at 25 mph. The primary hazard is half-dollar-sized hail, which is expected to cause damage to vehicles.
The storm is anticipated to impact Craig and Struble around 10:50 PM CDT, Le Mars and Merrill around 11:00 PM CDT, and Remsen around 11:20 PM CDT. Other areas expected to be affected include Brunsville and Oyens.
The National Weather Service urges all individuals in the affected area to seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing large hail. Report any severe weather to your nearest law enforcement agency or the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls SD.
