Wind Advisory Issued for Mojave Desert, Las Vegas Valley
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Western and Eastern Mojave Desert, Morongo Basin, Cadiz Basin, and Las Vegas Valley until Monday, October 12, at 5:00 AM PDT, with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Western Mojave Desert, Eastern Mojave Desert (including the Mojave National Preserve), Morongo Basin, Cadiz Basin in California, and the Las Vegas Valley in Nevada. Residents in these areas should prepare for strong winds.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas NV issued the advisory today, October 11, at 12:18 AM PDT. It remains in effect until 5:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 12.
South winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. These conditions may blow around unsecured objects, potentially bringing down tree limbs and causing isolated power outages.
The NWS advises that winds of this strength can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Extra caution is recommended for all drivers.
