High Wind Warning: Secure Loose Objects, Power Outages Expected

Residents in the Northwest Plateau, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, Lake Mead (AZ side), Lake Mohave (AZ side), Hualapai Mountains, Northwest Deserts, San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley, Northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon, Southern Clark County, Lake Mead (NV side), and Lake Mohave (NV side) are urged to secure loose outdoor objects immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas NV has issued a High Wind Warning effective from 5 AM PDT /5 AM MST/ Sunday, October 11, until 8 PM PDT /8 PM MST/ Sunday, October 11.

South winds are expected to reach speeds of 35 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph. These damaging winds are predicted to bring down trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages. Travel will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, across portions of northwest Arizona, southeast California, and southern Nevada.

Take action now to prepare for these severe wind conditions. Securing any objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind is crucial to prevent property damage and potential hazards.
