Fort Myers Awarded for Financial Transparency
City of Fort Myers Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
June 10, 2024 – The City of Fort Myers has once again been recognized for its commitment to transparent and responsible financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2022.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Finance Department,” said City Manager Marty Lawing. “We are committed to providing our residents with accurate and transparent financial information.”
The City of Fort Myers has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for more than 20 consecutive years.
