Manrodt Starts 2nd SGA Term at Florida Poly, Focus on Leadership

Colby Manrodt, a graduate student, begins his second term as president of Florida Polytechnic University’s Student Government Association (SGA) with a focus on developing student leadership and increasing campus involvement.

Manrodt, who took office in fall 2025, plans to build on his first term by emphasizing community and organizational restructuring. “We want to cement that foundation to make sure that returning and future SGA members are well equipped to step into these roles with confidence and to continue to build that momentum,” Manrodt said. He cited the student-led sustainability garden project as a key accomplishment from his first term, highlighting student ownership from concept to completion.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, Manrodt is launching APEX. This initiative will offer students avenues to engage with the SGA and learn its processes without holding a formal office. APEX will provide speakers and resources to prepare students for future leadership roles.

“As our university continues to expand and grow, we really wanted a place for students to join us in some way and help build their sense of service leadership by helping with campus organizations and events,” Manrodt explained. “We want to give them tools and resources to equip them not only for on-campus leadership positions, but for internships and high-level jobs after college.”

The SGA also plans to strengthen relationships with campus partners, including the Campus Activities Board (CAB). The SGA will celebrate Engineers Week in February, collaborating with university departments and professional organizations like IEEE and ASME to highlight the campus’s STEM focus.

Manrodt, who also serves on Florida Poly’s Board of Trustees, emphasized the value of student input in university governance. “When I can bring in that valuable insight from our student body, I’ve seen it shift decisions and create a deeper sense of thought and discussion that I really appreciate,” he stated.
