Eleonore M. Way, a 98-year-old resident of Stuart, Florida, passed away on July 22, 2026. Her family remembers her for her strength, resilience, and a life filled with global adventures and deep devotion to her loved ones.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, on February 4, 1928, Eleonore was the daughter of Rosa and Andreas M. and sister to Lydia Angelica. She graduated from Mackenzie Presbyterian University in São Paulo and mastered five languages: Portuguese, German, Spanish, English, and French. This linguistic skill opened doors to a life of travel and connection.

Eleonore married Alva Otis Way III. They lived in Connecticut and enjoyed worldwide travel and golf during his business years and their retirement. She was a devoted mother to Peter, Karin, and Cynthia, and a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her family remembers her for her unconditional love, generous efforts to make their lives happier, and her advice to 'smell the roses.'

Eleonore was predeceased by her husband, Al Way; her sister, Lydia Bernauer; her brother-in-law, Willhelm Bernauer; and her nephew, Willi Bernauer. Her family held a private celebration of life. They suggest memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Doctors Without Borders in her honor.
