Polk County $4.7M Housing Assistance Program

Polk County will begin accepting applications July 1 for $4.7 million in state housing assistance funds. The State Housing Initiatives Partnership program will support an estimated 72 projects through June 30, 2027.
Polk County Housing and Neighborhood Development will distribute the money across five programs. Housing demolition and reconstruction receives $1.5 million for eight projects. Down payment and closing cost assistance receives $1.2 million to help an estimated 30 first-time homebuyers. Owner-occupied rehabilitation will fund 32 projects with $802,617. New construction and redevelopment receives $500,000 for two projects. Foreclosure prevention receives $200,000.
At least 20 percent of the total allocation supports special needs households, with priority given to residents with developmental disabilities requiring home modifications. Income-eligible residents qualify for all programs.
