Peoples Gas System is hiring a Pipeline Locator for its North Miami, Florida team. The utility, the fastest-growing natural gas provider in the Southeast, needs to fill the role to ensure public safety by accurately identifying and marking underground natural gas lines.

The Pipeline Locator will support the company's Damage Prevention Program. Responsibilities include following Sunshine 811 laws, working with various partners, and educating the public and excavators on safe digging practices to prevent damage.

Candidates require a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and at least one year of experience in underground utility locating. Alternatively, they must hold ASME B31Q Pipeline Personnel Qualification.

Proficiency with computers, electronic ticket management systems, and locating equipment is essential, along with knowledge of state one-call requirements and underground construction. Primary duties involve responding to excavation notices, marking underground lines with paint and flags, and using electronic detection equipment.

The role also includes performing light excavation to uncover buried utilities, updating electronic maps, assisting with damage investigations, and building relationships with contractors to reduce pipeline damages.
