TECO External Affairs Internships - Spring 2027

LAKE ALFRED — Tampa Electric Company (TECO) is recruiting college students for its External Affairs Internship program for Spring 2027. The internship offers students practical experience in public policy research, community engagement and corporate communications.

Interns will support TECO's interactions with government agencies, community stakeholders and business partners. Responsibilities include researching public policy, coordinating events, tracking legislative developments and preparing communication materials. The role provides hands-on experience in relationship management, strategic communications and regional affairs.

The internship is based at TECO's offices, 3600 Midtown Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. The position requires approximately 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with preferred availability for 20-30 hours per week. While primarily office-based, interns will have opportunities for weekly field visits and attendance at community events.

Qualified candidates must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, pursuing a Bachelor's or higher degree in a related discipline. Juniors or seniors with a political science background are encouraged to apply. Students must be enrolled in their university's co-op program or will be considered interns if not eligible for co-op. TECO conducts pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, physical exams and background checks.
