A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Troup County, including La Grange, effective immediately, October 9, at 5:16 PM EDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA. The warning remains in effect until 1:30 AM UTC on October 10, 2026. Residents should finalize preparations as hazardous conditions are expected.

Strong winds are forecast, with peak gusts up to 45 mph. Potential impacts include damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Large tree limbs may break, and some trees could be uprooted, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages. Secure loose outdoor objects immediately.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Troup County could see an additional 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. Moderate flooding is possible, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams could quickly swell, and floodwaters may enter structures in vulnerable areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

There is also a potential for a few tornadoes. Residents should have emergency plans ready and be prepared to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. Tornadoes can cause significant damage and disrupt emergency services.
