Publix Super Markets closed two South Florida locations in 2026, including longtime stores in Kendall and West Palm Beach, to rebuild at both sites. The grocery chain has not announced opening dates for the replacement supermarkets.
The Publix at the Palms at Town & Country, 8250 Mills Drive in Kendall, closed Jan. 17. The store opened in 1985 and had served the community for over 40 years. Publix will construct a new supermarket on the same site. Employees transferred to nearby Publix locations before the closure. The shopping center's directory lists Publix as “Under Construction.”
In West Palm Beach, the Publix at Southdale Shopping Center, 828 Southern Boulevard, closed Sept. 26 for a rebuild. A Publix spokeswoman confirmed the closure and that employees would transfer to other nearby stores. The company provided no timeline for the store's reopening.
Interim grocery shopping for West Palm Beach customers is available at the Belmart Plaza location, 500 Belvedere Road, about 1.3 miles away. This store offers pharmacy services, grocery departments and curbside pickup.
Shoppers displaced by the Kendall closure can visit the Publix at Kendall Mall, 9041 Southwest 107th Avenue. Both the Kendall Mall and Belmart Plaza Publix stores operate daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pharmacy hours vary by location.
