Janice Kay Blumenstock, Former East Peoria Restaurant Co-Owner, Dies at 74
Janice Kay Blumenstock, 74, former co-owner of Newell's Family Restaurant, died Oct. 3, 2026. She is survived by her two sons, a granddaughter and a sister.

Janice Kay Blumenstock, a former co-owner of Newell’s Family Restaurant, died Saturday, October 3, 2026. She was 74. Her death occurred just over two months after her husband, David L. Blumenstock, died on July 14, 2026.
Born Aug. 17, 1952, in Peoria to Percy and Rosie Newell, Janice married David L. Blumenstock on Sept. 21, 1970. The couple shared 55 years of marriage.
For 18 years, Janice co-owned Newell’s Family Restaurant in East Peoria. She is survived by her two sons, Brad and Erik Blumenstock, both of East Peoria; her granddaughter, Haley Blumenstock; and her sister, Cheryl Kern of East Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Fondulac Cemetery. Remmert Funeral Home handled arrangements.
